Salah satu upaya pengendalian pencemaran tersebut adalah melalui proses adsorpsi menggunakan biochar berbahan limbah pertanian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai penurunan kadar Merkuri (Hg) dalam air lindi menggunakan biochar sekam padi serta menentukan waktu kontak paling efektif, dan mengevaluasi kesesuaiannya dengan baku mutu air lindi menurut Peraturan Menteri LHK Nomor 59 Tahun 2016. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan metode batch. Variasi perlakuan meliputi dosis biochar sekam padi sebesar 0 g (kontrol), 15 g, dan 30 g, serta waktu kontak 120 menit dan 180 menit. Analisis kadar Merkuri (Hg) dilakukan di laboratorium terakreditasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biochar sekam padi mampu menurunkan kadar Merkuri (Hg) pada air lindi. Efisiensi penurunan tertinggi sebesar 48.65% diperoleh pada dosis 15 g dengan waktu kontak 120 menit.
