Uric acid is a product of catalyzed oxidation of xanthine reaction by the xanthine oxidase enzyme. In medical term, decreasing uric acid levels in the blood is done by adding inhibitors to restrain the activity of the xanthine oxidase enzyme, and one of which is taking allopurinol. This research is done to determine the secondary metabolites compound contained in the ethanol extract also its inhibition power towards xanthine oxidase enzyme. The results of the study showed that alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and polyphenols were found in the ethanol extract extract of pennywort. In 100 ppm concentration the inhibition capacity of ethanol extract from pennywort leaves, are 75%, also Allopurinol 10 ppm is 75% .To obtain the inhibition capability with 1 tablet of allopurinol, it needed pennywort leaf as 378.62 g (using ethanol solvent).</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">QD Chemistry</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>CHEDS: Journal of Chemistry, Education, and Science</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mods:mods>
