Namun, kondisi jaringan irigasi di wilayah tersebut mengalami beberapa permasalahan, salah satunya yaitu, saluran yang masih sederhana (saluran tanah, sedimentasi dan distribusi air yang belum merta sehingga berpotensi menurunkan efektivitas penyaluran air. Oleh karena itu , diperlukan adanya peningkatan jaringan ke semi teknis agar distribusi air dapat dilakukan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi eksisiting jaringan irigasi, menganalisis kebutuhan air, serta merencanakan dimensi saluran untuk peningkatan jaringan pada Daerah Irigasi Balong. Metode penelitian meliputi survei lapangan, analisis hidrologi menggunakan data curah hujan, analisis kebutuhan air irigasi dan perencanaan dimensi saluran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan air irigasi pada Daerah Irigasi Balong sebesar 0,08 m^3/detik. Berdasarkan hasil perencanaan saluran BB4 direncanakan sepanjang 300m dan mampu menampung debit maksimum sebesar 1,99 m^3/detik. Hasil perencanaan pada saluran Sd II direncanakan sepanjang 435 m serta memiliki kapasitas tampungan sebesar 1,19 m^3/detik.
