Abstract

This study aims to determine the basic and non-basic sectors and the potential level of business sectors in West Nusa Tenggara province and to determine economic changes in West Nusa Tenggara province. This research method uses a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at Constant Prices by business sector for the 2021–2025 period obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analysis techniques used are the Location Quotient (LQ) method to identify basic and non-basic sectors, Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) to determine the potential for future sector development, and Shift Share to analyze shifts in economic structure and sectoral competitiveness calculated using Microsoft Excel. The research results show that the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors; construction; wholesale and retail trade and car and motorcycle repair; real estate; government administration, defense, and compulsory social security; and education services are the basic sectors with comparative advantages in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The DLQ analysis shows that several sectors have the potential to remain leading sectors in the future. Meanwhile, the Shift Share analysis reveals a shift in the economic structure, characterized by differences in growth rates and competitiveness between economic sectors. The implication of the findings of this study is the need for regional governments to prioritize the development of leading sectors that have high competitiveness and growth prospects through increased investment, infrastructure development, strengthening the quality of human resources, and diversifying the regional economy in order to create more sustainable economic growth and reduce dependence on certain sectors.
