Abstract

Background: resilience is fundamental ability to recover from severe condition, and
each individual tend to be heterogeneous to respond. GenZ is frequently viewed
with skepticism and labeled as “strawberry generation”, appealing on the outside
but fragile in the inside. However, study in resilience among GenZ still remain
limited.
Methods: Aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between gender, selfefficacy, and emotional maturity with resilience among GenZ. A quantitative
approach, cross-sectional was used in this study, involving 580 respondents across
the Java Island using purposive sampling.
Result: The findings indicate that gender, self-efficacy, and emotional maturity
were significantly correlated with resilience among GenZ (p < 0.05). However, in
the partial test, only self-efficacy and emotional maturity were found significantly
correlated with resilience (p < 0.05), while gender was not correlate with resilience
(p = 0.347). Furthermore, regarding the distribution of respondents' domiciles and
resilience levels, geospatial imagery results showed that East Java had the highest
percentage of resilience levels, while Central Java was the lowest.
Conclusion: This study reveals that self-efficacy and emotional maturity were
associated with resilience. Otherwise, resilience was not inclusively tended to
particular gender. This study has limitations, including the categorization of
resilience levels based on group standards. Further study is needed to validate the
categorization for greater accuracy and to map the levels of self-efficacy and
emotional maturity among GenZ. Additionally, further research is needed to
conduct more detailed analysis of resilience levels among GenZ in each province
as well.
