Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of community welfare and understand the form of geoeconomic intervention that occurs in the traditional oil mining area of Wonocolo, Bojonegoro Regency. Traditional oil mining that has been managed for generations by the local community has a multidimensional impact on the social, economic, educational, and health lives of the community. This study uses a mixed method approach, which is a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, while qualitative analysis was carried out using N-Vivo software. The results of the study indicate that mining businesses have a significant influence on three main dimensions of welfare, namely education, health, and family economy. However, no significant influence was found on social relations and leisure time ownership. From a geoeconomic perspective, the geographical position of Wonocolo Village which is rich in oil resources encourages the formation of a local economic structure that is highly dependent on the mining sector. Geoeconomic intervention occurs through increasing household income, opening up employment opportunities, and mobilizing local resources, but has not been fully accompanied by equal distribution of benefits and sustainable management.
