Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of farmers’ preferences for rice–tobacco crop rotation patterns on their income in Kalisumber Village, Tambakrejo Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach, using data obtained from primary surveys and secondary sources. The respondents in this study totaled 40, based on Roscoe’s guideline. The population in this study on farmers’ preferences consisted of farmers who have already and are still practicing rice–tobacco crop rotation, with a focus on those who sell tobacco in shredded or dried form. The analysis methods used include descriptive statistics, farming business analysis, and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that farmers’ preference for rice–tobacco crop rotation is influenced by production, economic, and farming experience factors, with land area being the most frequently chosen indicator. Tobacco farming generated a higher income than rice, with an average total of Rp61.631.136,1 ha/ planting season. Preferences in cropping patterns have a significant effect on income although not all factors in these preferences contribute significantly individually with the largest influence from production factors. This finding shows the importance of these three factors in increasing farmer income.
